I don’t know why I do this to myself, I knew this would be a tearjerker of a story, but yet I watched it today and just let the tears flow.
Hachi is a film that was not released in the US and went straight to DVD. Entertainment Weekly named it one of the best films of the year. It was directed by Lasse Hallstrom (My Life as a Dog) and is based on the true story of Hachiko the dog in Japan. Today, a bronze statue of Hachiko sits in his waiting spot outside the Shibuya railroad station.

This is Blücher, the dog that makes sure everything runs smoothly at Giraffe Manor in Kenya. She is not even a year old and I am still waiting for the explanation of why SHE is named for a Prussian General who fought Napoleon at Waterloo. But she thinks she is a warthog and while she will chase the adult warthogs away from the front door, she is scared of the baby warthogs and they end up chasing her away.
For a rescue in Nairobi she has a very nice life and as the manager said she was a present for his wife’s 30th birthday and she was free. But still why did you name her after a male general?
And yes everywhere I go I bond with all the dogs!

Once went to check out some Bernese Mountain Dogs and the woman told us all the reasons we should not add one to our family - I still wasn’t convinced but then I met a Bullmastiff named Penny and I let the BMDs go.

My money says this is a bullmastiff under the dachsund - but this is a very bully one. There are 2 lines of Bullmastiffs: dry and bully, the bullies have bigger head and more skin and tend to drool buckets, the dries have a more compact head and very little drool. My Maddie was from the dry line but I would take a bullmastiff any way they come,
